Good Friday Easter egg hunt at The Toy Barn a huge success

Sherborne-based toy shop The Toy Barn hosted an Easter egg hunt with a ‘heroes and villains’ fancy dress theme last Friday (18 April 2014).

Some 200 children enjoyed the fun, which included an egg hunt, chocolate Easter egg and unlimited play on the climbing frames, swings, trampolines and wendy houses in the display and play orchard.

Children were invited to come dressed as a hero or villain character with a prize for the best costume. Four-year-old Billy Oxford from Sherborne won the chocolate bunny prize with his pirate costume. There were some impressive and imaginative costumes making judging extremely difficult for Peter Hunt, owner of The Toy Barn. Peter said:

“It was a tough decision but of all the wonderful heroes and villains costumes this young man stood out as the winner. Thank you to everyone who came and took part.”

Parents also enjoyed the tea and coffee, cake and book stalls run by volunteers from Yeovil, Sherborne and District Samaritans who raised £400 for the charity. Branch director Roger Mallows said:

“Yeovil and Sherborne Samaritans is extremely grateful to The Toy Barn for their active participation in our ongoing fundraising activities. The £400 raised will help us to sustain our work in offering 24/7 emotional support within the local community.”
